The City of Clayton is accepting applications for the Municipal Service Technician I position for the Parks Maintenance Department. The purpose of Municipal Service Technician I position is to perform manual maintenance work for the Parks Maintenance Department. Technicians may be assigned specific areas of responsibility within a department, so not all duties may apply to all positions. Essential Duties & Responsibilities of the Municipal Service Technician I Delivers a safe and excellent customer service experience to residents and patrons. Maintains and cleans park ground, structures, fixtures and the associated sites, including the cleaning of restroom facilities and emptying garbage and/or trash cans. Assists with landscape maintenance to include tree pruning and removal; tree planting, installation of annual and perennial plantings; landscape bed maintenance; mulch application; and fall leaf collection. Mows and trims the parks by operating hand and riding mowers and power trimmers. Assists in the maintenance and operation of the tennis center, and aquatic center as well as park facilities. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of athletic fields and volleyball courts. Assists with emergency snow removal and city wide storm clean-up. Assists in the seasonal opening and closing of aquatic complex, tennis center and sports complex. Operates small trucks, tractors, mowers and auxiliary maintenance equipment to perform tasks in a safe and responsible manner. Assists with the set-up, operation and tear-down of Park and City events. Minimum Qualifications for the Municipal Service Technician I High School Diploma or Equivalent One (1) year previous work experience in general park maintenance, landscaping, or facility maintenance. Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License within six months of employment. Certification in American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider and First Aid required within three months of employment. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to prepare parks for events and rental usage. Ability to respond to weather events at any time of day.
